This site is a platform for both individuals with Parkinson's disease and for their care givers to exchange ideas and experiences which will be of value to the support groups in providing help and effective programming. Remember, You Are Not Alone!
If anyone has had experence with laughter therapy, it would be interesting to hear from you.

It is often said that laughter is the best medicine, and for a good reason. A good laugh makes us all feel a little (or a lot) better from time to time, and there are good scientific reasons for this. During the last province wide group meeting of the facilitators for Parkinson's support groups I first heard about Laugh Yoga, which is basically a form of laughter therapy combined with modest exercise. So I would be interested to hear from anyone who has experienced this. I have attached a video on the topic and am planning to have a laugh yoga practitioner come to our May meeting to tell us all about it.....should be a laugh!
I did Laughter Yoga with Doreen Bakstad, a lovely local Yogini from Errington, and had lots of fun. I was very self conscious at first, but by the end I was pretty into it and relaxed. I do lots of yoga and I know that the assisted yoga that I do with Bruce makes him feel really good (it's kind of like Thai massage). Not sure how he would do with laughter yoga, but it couldn't hurt. I hope to finaly make the May meeting if I can get a few hours off from work. Audrey Cope
Here are several links to Laughter practitioners, and there are many more. However you can try these for a start, or you can simply Google Laughter + yoga + BC. The first link is to Doreen Bakstad who came to our monthly meeting and got everyone feeling better. A couple of people said that they felt like smiling for a couple days after.

Hi Stuart
Does anyone know where to find laughter yoga classes in the lower mainland? Is there a provincial source for such information?
Thanks!
